Course Details

During this certificate course, your instructor will guide you, step-by-step, through the process of using TechSmith Camtasia to build effective and appealing screen recordings,  video tutorials and more. Session practice will be integrated into each one hour segment – teach/demos for 40-45 minutes with 10-15 minutes to practice. This approach will allow participants to practice the concepts taught in that previous segment while still fresh oin your mind. At the end of a session (3 hours) additional practice files allow you to continue to hone your skills between sessions. 

Prerequisites:
 A basic understanding of computing concepts (zipping and unzipping files, etc.) and Instructional design is helpful. 

Who Should Attend:
This certificate course is for non-programmers who wish to learn basic to intermediate authoring features of TechSmith Camtasia. Managers may also benefit from seeing the creation and development process so they may accurately estimate course development time and cost.

Technical Requirements

IIf you not have a licensed copy of TechSmith Camtasia, you must download a complimentary free trial version prior to the start of the course: Free trial version of TechSmith Camtasia.

Your trial period for this software is 30 days from the time you install. Therefore, we recommend that you install the trial version no more than one or two days prior to the first session. This allows you a few weeks to practice after the last session. TechSmith Camtasia system requirements. 

Window vs. Mac Users:
TechSmith Camtasia is supported by both the Windows and Mac operating systems. While there are slight differences in the user interface, they are the same program. For this certificate program, we will use the latest version of Camtasia on Windows.

Note: TechSmith Camtasia is a 3-day free trial with no watermark. After the free trial, all published outputs will have a TechSmith Camtasia watermark, but you can continue using the full version of the free trial indefinitely.

IMPORTANT - You'll participate in online and collaborative activities in a number of ways, each designed to provide a unique means to interact and learn from experts and colleagues. All course delivery software operates at Internet connection speeds of 56.6 kbps or better, on PC, Mac and Unix platforms. Programs will use teleconferencing or VoIP (voice over Internet Protocol.) The login instructions emailed to you approximately one week prior to the start of the course will outline platform use as well as any headset requirements or suggestions. Each registrant must provide their own laptop or desktop computer and other equipment (such as a headset, if noted in your login instructions) in order to fully and successfully participate in the course.
