Certificate Overview

Certificate Overview

Virtual classroom technology enables learning and development teams to reach all audiences, at any time of the day, with just a simple internet connection. But creating engaging programs for this type of technology is an immense challenge requiring both technical knowledge and the ability to apply sound instructional design techniques so that the trainer and producer are enabled to deliver online learning events that filled with interactive participants, not passive attendees.

This certificate is an immersive skill-building experience of engaging online training with examples, practice and coaching designed to empower instructional designers to create virtual instructor-led training experiences with confidence! You enter a complete live online training world, participate in discussions, practice learning online, explore your virtual classroom platform, create training materials ready for immediate use and discover how your organization can begin to make the necessary shifts which support a virtual learning culture! You will walk away with the skills needed to become a savvy online virtual designer!

Bonus Items:

  • Receive a participant manual containing job aids (including The Virtual Designer’s Competency Model and a 3-Step Virtual Activity Design Process)
  • Receive examples and platform checklists to help navigate the various live online platforms in the market today (WebEx, Zoom, Adobe Connect and GotoTraining); and key points to remember for you to use as you design, develop materials and learning experiences for your live online courses.
  • Walk-through your own live online activity during the last session of the certificate program for peer and instructor feedback.

Program Details:

Application Assignments:
There will be a required 1-hour assignment following sessions one, two, and three. Session 4 is a live “showcase” session where participants walk through their design, describing and showing what they have created. Session 4 accommodates 10 registrants and runs from 10:00am-12:00pm ET. If there are more than 10 registrants, a second session will be added from 2:00pm-4:00pm to accommodate and provide each participant with enough time to deliver and receive feedback. You only need to attend 4 sessions.

Technical Needs/Prerequisites:
You should have access to a live online platform such as WebEx, Adobe Connect, GoToTraining, Zoom, etc. You will be asked to complete independent application assignments using this access. You should also come prepared with an idea for a future live online event. You will complete a project related to that event and prepare to deliver an excerpt from it in the last session.

Who Should Attend:
Instructional designers, trainers, and those who desire to build the skills necessary to design, develop, and support live online or virtual instructor led training strategies.
