We will explore tried and true strategies to re-frame change, combat fatigue and tap into your creativity to nimbly reinvent and adjust your work while increasing your productivity. You will not only practice embracing a mindset of abundance and creativity, but also work on reimagining an element of your career (an offering, a process, your role or anything else you choose) to align it with your values and strengths AND your stakeholder's needs while increasing your productivity in the process. This certificate is built with busy training professionals in mind and is based on an approach that was proven to resonate at Training magazine’s Training 2020 Conference & Expo. The Brave New Workshop led a series of sessions which drew standing-room-only crowds and received rave evaluations.

Jenni is a pioneer in integrating improvisational behavior practice into personal growth and healing. Over the past 20+ year her transformational programs have touched thousands of people 9 – 90 years old. Jenni is also the co-owner of the nation’s longest running satirical comedy theatre, the Brave New Workshop (BNW). Prior to jumping off the corporate ladder into the world of comedy, Jenni spent 10 years in the field communications/public relations.
It is Jenni’s core belief and observation that people from all walks of life can practice the behaviors of improvisation to find their most confident self—that has led to hundreds of corporate learning programs and community outreach projects.

In this certificate you will learn to:

  • Design experiences with empathy and a strong focus on the human.
  • Practice behaviors that counteract some unproductive human tendencies (such as negativity bias, confirmation bias etc.) to deliver the outcomes you want to see.

 Instructional Approach:

  • Live online sessions
  • Reading, hands-on activities and reflection exercises between sessions
  • Rapid re-design assignment applying concepts and learnings     
       
SESSION 1: Mindset of Discovery

This session will be dedicated to jump starting your innovation fitness, and getting you ready to think big and think differently. We will practice listening and noticing and will work on our deferring judgment muscles so that we can distill key insights and honor diverse points of view, including our own.

Come prepared with: Self-assessment and personal/organizational values worksheet.

SESSION 2: Ideating at the Speed of Laughter

This session will be all about ideas and building interesting solutions collaboratively. You will learn how to draw inspiration from your environment and the people around you and will work together to generate numerous divergent ideas to aid each others’ projects.

Come prepared with: Point of view statement for yourself or end user of your re-design

SESSION 3: Storytelling and Influencing

This session will be all about practicing storytelling and envision the future. Putting to practice the mindset and behaviors we worked on in the previous sessions, you will share the key elements of your re-design and will commit to ongoing practice and building a courageous community of creative support.

IMPORTANT - You'll participate in online and collaborative activities in a number of ways, each designed to provide a unique means to interact and learn from experts and colleagues. All course delivery software operates at Internet connection speeds of 56.6 kbps or better, on PC, Mac and Unix platforms. Programs will use teleconferencing or VoIP (voice over Internet Protocol.) The login instructions emailed to you approximately one week prior to the start of the course will outline platform use as well as any headset requirements or suggestions. Each registrant must provide their own laptop or desktop computer in order to fully participate in the course as mobile applications such as Zoom and Adobe Connect have limited feature functionality that may prohibit you from fully experiencing class activities. Please test your login information a minimum of 48 hours in advance on your course start date on the computer you will be using for the course.
