Certificate Overview:

Social media is no longer seen as a fad – it’s a revolution.  Whether you work in a traditional or virtual classroom, social media provides a low-cost way to broaden your reach and increase the impact of your training. Based on the bestselling book Social Media for Trainers, this interactive certificate invites you on a guided tour of several popular and powerful social media tools such as Facebook, LinkedIn, blogs, Wikis, microblogs (Twitter) and explores concrete, specific ways to incorporate them into your own training practice. We’ll examine their unique features, discuss how to leverage the strengths of each, explore which best fit your training needs and learn how to set up your own accounts. Appropriate for classroom and virtual classroom facilitators, and instructional designers, the course also covers the basics of social learning, informal learning, and communities.  While we discuss concepts such as learning communities and overcoming barriers, the focus of this program is on specific training activities that can be facilitated using social media tools.

Important Note: participants will need to be able to access a variety of social media tools including Twitter and Facebook during and in between program sessions. Participants who cannot access these types of sites during work hours will find it difficult to fully participate in the course.

Certificate Objectives:
You will learn to:

  • Use a variety of social media tools to share training content and encourage communication and interaction.
  • Choose the social media tool(s) most appropriate for meeting stated training goals.
  • Develop a plan for enhancing or extending an existing training program using one or more social media tools.

Who Should Attend:
This certificate is appropriate for classroom and virtual classroom facilitators, and instructional designers.

Prerequisites:
The certificate is suited to those who wish to start utilizing social media for training. It is also suited for current users of social media who wish to better leverage the strengths of their current social media tools or expand into new social media areas for training purposes.
