Program Details: During this certificate program your instructors will guide you, step-by-step, through the process of using Articulate Storyline to build effective and appealing eLearning. You will build a small eLearning project during this certificate to gain hands-on practice applying your new skills.

Prerequisites: A basic understanding of computing concepts (zipping/unzipping files, etc.) is required. A basic understanding eLearning is helpful. Already have basic Articulate Storyline experience? Consider registering for our Articulate Storyline for Next Level Design certificate.

If you don't have a licensed copy of Articulate Storyline, you must download a complimentary trial version prior to the start of the course at: The current trial version is Storyline 2 but if you already have Storyline 1 installed, you can still participate in this certificate by downloading Storyline 2 trial version. The two versions are independent of each other and both can be installed on the same computer. While Storyline 2 can support anything in Storyline 1, you will find that Storyline 2 has quite a few new features.

Already using Articulate Storyline and not sure if you have Storyline 1 or 2?
Start  by locating your license/serial number by right clicking on your desktop link for Articulate Storyline, then choose ‘properties’ and  it should say ‘Articulate Storyline’ (if you currently use Storyline 1) or ‘Articulate Storyline 2’ (if you currently use Articulate Storyline2.) Still can’t find it? Please contact the Articulate directly for assistance at

Your trial period for this software is 30 days from the time you install. Therefore, we recommend that you install the trial version no more than one or two days prior to the first session. This allows you a few weeks to practice after the last session.

NOTE TO MAC USERS: Articulate Storyline is a Windows-based program. Currently there is no version specifically for a Mac. However, you can run Storyline on a Mac with Parallels, Boot Camp, or VMware Fusion virtual machine. Please contact us if you have questions.

  • Create simple interactions: drag and drop, hide-reveal, rollovers, and more.
  • Understand object states, including characters, buttons, and shapes.
  • Understand interactive objects including markers, hotspots, buttons, and scrolling panels.
  • Use best practices for leveraging Storyline’s basic quizzing features.
  • Implement ideas that help you to convert text-heavy content into easy to navigate, branched lessons.
  • Publish your project.
  • Leverage creative ideas and techniques for enhancing your learning content.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage variables in your projects.

Each session is 3 hours in length. The first two hours are instructor-led and online. The third hour is an online facilitated lab where participants can work on their assignments with the support of the instructor. Participants will also have access to the instructor via email for additional support after each session and for the duration of the certificate program.

All sessions start at 12:00 noon Eastern Time (New York time). Here is the time of the sessions listed in various time zones:

IMPORTANT - You'll participate in online and collaborative activities in a number of ways, each designed to provide a unique means to interact and learn from experts and colleagues. All course delivery software operates at Internet connection speeds of 56.6 kbps or better, on PC, Mac and Unix platforms. Programs will use teleconferencing or VoIP (voice over Internet Protocol.) The login instructions emailed to you approximately one week prior to the start of the course will outline platform use as well as any headset requirements or suggestions. Each registrant must provide their own laptop or desktop computer and other equipment (such as a headset) in order to fully and successfully participate in the course. Please test your login information a minimum of 48 hours in advance on your course start date on the computer you will be using for the course.
